LEARNING CULTURE IN ORGANISATIONS

This post is a bit diverged from politics. It’s more like a ‘holiday’ from writing about politic. For the simple reason-bored with local politic scene. Always the same drama. For this post i prefer more academic and conceptual issue as to fit OPEN DEBATE’s economical and social agenda. OPEN DEBATE is not just about politics but about any debatable issue. Here, the issue of learning culture. I hope many corporate entity, NGO’s, Student’s Activism Body, Government Public Department and individuals will benifit from this post.

Any vibrant organization either corporate entity or non-profitable institution and especially the government should never left out learning culture to improve their operation and human resource. Learning culture? Yes, learning culture is “creating, acquiring and communicating information and knowledge and changing and organization behavior to reflect new knowledge at every turn to get better and better”. In simpler words, organization nowadays need to improve via learning in order to stay competitive and motivated. How?

Human resource is perhaps the most important asset of all others. Good organization always provides an environment where workers can constantly involve in active learning to improve skills and knowledge throughout time. As individuals in a company are playing grater role, leaders need to ensure that their workers are adequately trained via regular training courses to maintain productivity. Team learning also need to be encouraged so that more output of ideas and creativity can be obtained thus maximizing the organization’s output too.

Technology is a great tool is cultivating learning culture. Technology does have the ability to augment what active learners can learn. It can help them gather information and generate new insights. In an energetic learning culture, in which workers are responsible for their own learning and for helping one another learn, well-planned and well-delivered technology enhances everyone’s experience in an organization. It enables the organization to keep track on current issues thus creating an organically informational organization ahead of the other competitors.

Modifying current company’s management system to a more learning-friendly approach will definitely plant a learning culture in the organization. By improving manager-staff relation, supervisor-worker relation, or employer-employee relation can accelerate learning process. For example, a senior manager can give important advices and comments towards the job of his subordinates and with the help of appropriate company policy, this can be frequently motivated.

In the end, through learning culture, organizations are able to increase efficiency and competitiveness ten fold. Supporting personal mastery, technological investment and better policy would definitely enhance learning process. The faster the learning process accelerates, the greater the organization improves.
